Focusing on Routines: Entering and Exiting the Classroom with Purpose

In the first week back for Term 2, students across the school participated in a dedicated lesson centred on our Term 2 focus: the importance of consistent and respectful routines when entering and exiting the classroom.

The lesson was designed to reinforce high expectations and support a calm, purposeful learning environment from the moment students step through the door. Across all year levels, students explored what it means to start and end each lesson with focus, respect, and readiness to learn.

Teachers guided students through practical discussions and activities that highlighted:

  • The value of being on time and organised,
  • How positive body language and greetings set the tone for learning,
  • The impact of a calm, respectful exit on transitioning to the next class or break.

Classes also reflected on how these simple routines contribute to a positive school culture.

By aligning our expectations across the school, we’re working together to build consistency that benefits everyone.

We thank all staff and students for their engagement and look forward to seeing these practices continue to strengthen throughout the term.

Learning Through Choice: ANZAC Day Reflections Across the School

In week 2, students across all year levels engaged in a meaningful exploration of ANZAC Day through a classroom-based learning experience designed to deepen their understanding of the day’s significance.

The focus this year was on student-led inquiry and reflection. Each class followed a tailored lesson plan that gave students the opportunity to explore ANZAC Day in a way that resonated with them personally. With a range of activities to choose from—including historical research, creative writing, art projects, multimedia presentations, and personal reflections—students were able to investigate themes such as bravery, sacrifice, mateship, and national identity.

The flexible structure encouraged rich discussions and thoughtful responses. This approach not only supported deeper learning, but also empowered students to take ownership of how they connect with Australia’s history and its ongoing legacy.

Thank you to all staff for facilitating these thoughtful lessons, and to our students for the respect and maturity they showed in approaching such an important topic.

Lest we forget.
