Welcome back to Term 2! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, spending quality time with family and friends.
It was fantastic to see students, staff, and several parents at the assembly on the first day. As I mentioned, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead Charlton College over the next two terms. This school has an outstanding reputation, dedicated and passionate staff, impressive results, and a wonderfully supportive community. A special thank you to Erin Blair, the first student to approach and introduce herself—your warm welcome meant a great deal to me.
I thought I’d take a moment to share a bit about myself. Originally from Melbourne, I’ve worked in several large secondary schools as a teacher (Drama/Media), Leading Teacher, and Assistant Principal. I later moved to Swan Hill, where I was Assistant Principal for seven years and Acting Principal for one year. I loved the move to a regional school, particularly the closer ties with the community that city schools can’t quite replicate.
Late last year, I relocated to Bendigo and spent a term at Rushworth P-12, where Jamie Daff is now Principal. It was a privilege to work in a P-12 school and experience its community-focused environment.
I’m not a stranger to Charlton—I’ve spent many Saturdays here watching football and hockey, as my stepchildren played for the Birchip-Watchem club. I’ve also enjoyed visiting your beautiful theatre for a live performance, and I’m looking forward to spending more time in town.
I can’t wait to get to know the staff, students, families, and community members better over the coming weeks and months.
