Hello everyone and welcome to the end of Term 1,
As Term 1 comes to a close, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and dedication to our school. Your commitment to ensuring that your children are prepared for learning every day is truly appreciated.
At KCHS, the relationships we build with our students are the cornerstone of our success. When students feel safe, supported, and confident enough to ask for help, we create a learning environment where they can thrive. This sense of belonging within our classrooms fosters both academic achievement and personal growth.
As we reflect on the end of Term 1, it’s important to remember the values that drive us forward - our school’s vision. At the heart of KCHS, is a commitment to cultivating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment. We aim to inspire students to become empathetic, and adaptive learners, striving for personal excellence in a world that is constantly evolving.
As we prepare to break for the term, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy, restful, and safe holiday. Thank you for your continued partnership in creating a positive and nurturing environment for our students. We look forward to welcoming them back to school on Tuesday, April 22nd.
School Council:
Our School Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Tuesday, March 4th, from 5:15 – 6:15 PM. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the work undertaken over the past 12 months and present our Annual Report and Annual Implementation Plan.
During the AGM, office bearers were formally appointed to the roles of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. We still had two open positions: Parent Member and Community Member. If you are interested, we encouraged you to reach out, and I’m happy to answer any questions.
School Review
Kensington Community High School will be engaging in a School Review in Term 4 this year. Once every four years a review is conducted in every government school.
A panel for the Review that represents the school community will be formed to guide the process. Good schools regularly evaluate their progress, celebrate their success and look for further opportunities for improvement. As part of the review the school community will have the opportunity to participate in the review process. This opportunity will be offered to families early in Term 4.
Child Safe Standards
As a part of our 4 year school review process, the school undertakes a thorough review and independent audit of our child safe standards. Kensington Community High School is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.
Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our website: Child Safe Standards. We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We are currently reviewing our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.
Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.
