The help-seeking behaviours of children and young people are fundamental to their mental health and wellbeing. Encouraging and fostering help-seeking behaviours is one way to improve mental health and wellbeing. There are several barriers that children and young people can face when it comes to help-seeking including embarrassment, shame, fear of making things worse, fear of getting into trouble, lack of confidence to initiate conversations with an adult, anxiety about not being believed, and lack of knowledge about who to approach. Therefore, it is important to work with students to identify the situations when help from appropriate adults is warranted, make sure they are aware about help-seeking avenues, and ensure they feel confident to persist in seeking help from appropriate sources when needed.
Thank you for your support with Pastoral Wellbeing at St Joseph’s.
Please contact me or Mel Worme (Family Liaison Officer) with any questions or queries about your child’s wellbeing.

At all times, the ongoing safety and well-being of all children and young people will be the primary focus of care and decision-making, with particular attention paid to the most vulnerable children, including Aboriginal children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with a disability, children who are unable to live at home, international students, and students of diverse sexuality.
To create and maintain a safe environment and nurturing culture, CES Ltd and St Joseph's Primary School will actively and continually develop and review all policies, processes and practices, informed and responsive to legislation and evidence.
