Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating holiday break. As we return to school, we are filled with a renewed sense of energy and purpose, ready to embrace the opportunities and learning that lie ahead.
We also return with the knowledge of the passing of Pope Francis, the beloved leader of our Catholic Church. Pope Francis dedicated his life to serving God and others. His kindness, humility, and compassion touched millions of people around the world.
In this time of mourning, we join with Catholics around the world in prayer, remembering Pope Francis' unwavering dedication to the teachings of Christ and his example of servant leadership.
We began the term with three incredibly enriching Professional Development Days, where our dedicated staff engaged in learning centred around the Science of Learning with Dr Jared Cooney Horvath. Dr Horvath is an internationally renowned cognitive neuroscientist and educator, and his sessions provided valuable insights into how the brain learns best. This knowledge equips our teachers to create even more effective, brain-friendly learning environments that support deep, lasting understanding for all students.
We warmly invite all Mothers and Special People in our school community to join us for a special celebration in honour of the love, care, and guidance you give every day.
On Friday, May 9, we will be hosting a Mother’s & Special Persons Day Breakfast followed by a Liturgy to celebrate and give thanks for the incredible women and special people in our lives.
🕗 Breakfast will be served from 8.00am in the Arts Centre, where mums and special guests can enjoy a yummy breakfast. Please note: breakfast is not provided for children.
✝️ Following this, we invite you to join us for a Liturgy at 9.15am in the School Hall, as we come together in prayer and gratitude for the blessings of motherhood and the important role of caregivers in our families.
This is a cherished tradition in our school community, and we hope you can join us for this beautiful morning of connection, reflection, and celebration.
All are welcome.
National Photography will be providing individual codes to students so school photos can viewed and ordered. These are expected early next week.
Enrolments for 2026 have opened, and I encourage families with siblings ready to begin school to ensure they contact the office for an application for enrolment.
We are excited to invite our school community, prospective families, and friends to join us in celebrating Catholic Education Week, next week, a time to reflect and give thanks for the gift of Catholic education and the vibrant learning communities across our Diocese.
To mark this special week, we are opening our doors at St Joseph's Primary School Quarry Hill to prospective families during Open Week, May 5 - 9. Please also join us for our Information Evening on Monday May 12 at 7pm in the Arts Centre.
