Principal's message

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Celebrating Learning, Community, and Connection
At Clovelly Park Primary School, we are dedicated to creating rich learning opportunities that support both our students and staff on their educational journeys. Over the past term, our school has been buzzing with activities, events, and learning experiences that highlight our strong community spirit.
Our Pupil Free Day and regular staff meetings have been valuable occasions for our teachers to continue building knowledge and expertise in the South Australian Curriculum. We are focusing especially on areas such as meta-cognition and self-regulated learning, as outlined in the Department for Education’s ‘4 Areas of Impact’. This ongoing professional development ensures that our teaching strategies are research-based and targeted at improving outcomes for every learner.
Learning is not confined to the classroom, and this term our students have experienced the immense value of excursions. These opportunities help bring learning to life, fostering curiosity, confidence and real-world understanding. Some of the excursions have included – Windmill Theatre performances, Netball Gala Day, Australian Science & Maths School visit by year 6 students and soon a visit to the Adelaide ZOO.
Everyone smiled on Thursday 30th of April & Wednesday 06th May with staff and students having their photo taken—a wonderful way to remember our school year together. Even Ms Terena Pope visited to smile for the camera 😊.
A musical highlight this term was a visit from the SA POLICE band. Their performance, including playing many musical instruments, singing and a little bit of dancing, delighted students and staff alike, and importantly, reinforced the important message that the police are here to support and care for our community.
Parent Teacher Interviews provided another invaluable opportunity for families to connect with their child’s learning, celebrate achievements, and discuss goals. We truly value our partnership with parents and carers and appreciate your engagement and commitment.
The Governing Council has been a tremendous support in making important decisions for our school. We recognise the challenge of the recent decision regarding the closure of our OSHC service and are grateful for the community’s understanding and input. This Friday marks our last OSHC After School Care session, and we thank all of the parents and staff who have supported and contributed to the program. We are hopeful for a swift resolution to the procurement process and look forward to announcing a new 3rd party provider to reintroduce this essential service. Information about nearby vacation care alternatives can be found at the end of this newsletter.
Our school also participated in National Walk Safely to School Day, and we thank everyone who joined in this positive initiative, promoting health and road safety awareness.
Students enjoyed the recent T2D STEM Futures’ incursion, engaging in hands-on STEM learning and problem-solving activities. They explored the science, technology, engineering and mathematics behind what is happening on South Road. As part of the visit, our school also received a T2D STEM Futures resource kit, which will support future classroom learning through practical and creative STEM activities.
Our community recently came together to acknowledge National Sorry Day and to celebrate Reconciliation Week with an assembly. Understanding our shared histories and embracing both successes and challenges makes Clovelly Park Primary School a kind, inclusive and resilient community.
A special welcome goes out to our mid-year receptions who visited us for their first school experience. We look forward to welcoming them and their families more fully into our school community in the coming weeks.
Thank you to each and every person who contributes to making Clovelly Park Primary School a vibrant place to learn, grow and succeed together.
Warm regards,
Kylie Tuckey
