| Pre School | We have welcomed our 5 new mid-year preschoolers to 2 transition visits and our last one is this Thursday. The children have been very settled and have enjoyed exploring the preschool space so far.
We are also preparing to farewell our 11 children who started preschool mid-year last year and our amazing second preschool teacher, Tahlia. One of our preschoolers will be going to a private school, the other 10 will move to Modbury School and are very lucky to continue having Tahlia as their teacher.

| Early Years (Rooms 6,7 and 8) | Rm 6 - Reception children are making progress building strong phonic knowledge and we have now started on decodable reading and writing. Year 1 students continue to consistently apply and transfer their phonic knowledge to oral language and writing tasks.
RM 7 students said a sad 'goodbye' to their mid-week teacher in Wk 6, but have shifted beautifully and comfortably into having one teacher all week. We have taken their increasing phonics knowledge and are now writing sentences, focusing on the elements of a sentence and working on neat writing. In maths, RM 7 have moved on from a big number sense focus into a unit on shapes. Students are exploring shapes not only on paper but in our real lives, all around us.
Room 8 students are thoroughly enjoying Footsteps Dance. They learn a new dance each week and revise all the dances each week. Most students are demonstrating resilience in learning and remembering all the dance moves. Students are participating and having lots of fun!

| Primary Years (Rooms 9, 11, 12 | Room 9 having been having fun in science exploring solids, liquids and gases. We undertook an experiment where we mixed cornflour with water and it was both a solid and a liquid. We have also been investigating length, capacity and mass in maths. Students were measuring, weighing and comparing objects.
Room 11 - We have started looking at fractions and angles in maths. These are often some tricky subjects for students, but it’s great seeing students having some ‘a-ha’ moments. In English, students have been having a fantastic time gathering information on Natural Disasters. Our next step is to transfer all the information onto a poster!
Room 12 have recently completed their Information Report Unit and we have started our new Text Based Unit called The Lost Thing, written by Shaun Tan. In mathematics, students have been learning about 3D objects, their nets and using terminology such as faces, edges and vertices to describe 3D objects. |
| Primary Special Class | Room 10 students are actively engaging in mainstream classes, developing new motor skills during our weekly Footsteps and Physical Education sessions. Science and STEM lessons provide enjoyable opportunities for experimentation and creativity. Each day, students also practise Japanese greetings, it is becoming part of our daily routine.
