Welcome back to Term 2 to our Kellyville High School students’ and their families. This term:

 

The Middle School students will be studying the following concepts:

 

Year 7 –Decimals, Fractions and Percentages.

 

Year 8 – Data Analysis, Algebraic Techniques and Right-Angled Triangles.

 

Year 9 – Algebraic Techniques A (Core), Probability A (Core) & B (Path), Equations A (Core), Numbers of Any Magnitude (Core), Area & Surface Area A (Core) and Volume A (Core). These topics are listed according to students’ level of study.

 

The Senior students will be studying the following concepts:

 

Year 10 – Non-Linear Relationships A (Core) & B (Core), Data Analysis B (Core), Review of Algebraic Techniques A (Core), Algebraic Techniques B (Path) & C (Path), Area & Surface Area B (Path), Volume B (Path), Equations B (Path) & C (Path) and Probability B (Path). These topics are listed according to students’ level of study.

 

Year 11:

Mathematics Standard – Applications of Measurement - Practicalities of Measurement and Perimeter, Area and Volume, Linear Relationships and Time and Location.

Mathematics Advanced – Trigonometry, Introduction to Differentiation and Exponential and Logarithmic Functions.

Mathematics Extension 1 – Parametric Equations, Permutations and Combinations and The Binomial Theorem.

 

Year 12:

Mathematics Standard 1 – The Statistical Investigation Process for a Survey, Exploring and describing data arising from two quantitative variables and Networks.

Mathematics Standard 2 – Depreciation and Loans, Annuities and Networks. 

Mathematics Advanced – Arithmetic sequence and series, Geometric sequences and series, Modelling investments and loans, Financial applications of sequences and series and Data (grouped and ungrouped) and Summary Statistics.

Mathematics Extension 1 – Normal approximations for the sample proportion, Differential Equations and Proof by Mathematical Induction.

Mathematics Extension 2 – Simple Harmonic Motion, Modelling motion without resistance, Resisted Motion, Projectile and resisted Motion and The Nature of Proof.

 

The Middle School and Year 10 students will engage in the completion of half yearly examinations this term and the Stage 6 students will complete either an applications task or an assignment/investigation and then will sit a related class test.
