High School Musical – Coming This September

Our school is excited to announce that this year’s production of High School Musical will take the stage in September. Rehearsals are underway, and our talented cast and crew are already bringing the show to life.

Arts in Concert

Our senior music students are gearing up for an incredible opportunity — performing in the Arts Unit’s Arts in Concert at the Sydney Opera House this June. They’ve been travelling into the city to rehearse alongside other metropolitan schools and have been learning directly from industry professionals.

Tickets are now available through the Sydney Opera House.

Senior Visual Arts | Art Gallery of NSW

Last term, Year 11 and 12 students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Art Gallery of NSW to experience the Ron Mueck, Mike Hewson, and 2026 ArtExpress exhibitions. It has been years since Ron Mueck has exhibited his work, and students were fortunate to see such extraordinary creations. Mueck's work is truly otherworldly; the immense size, meticulous detail & thought-provoking concepts captivated everyone. His sculptures challenge viewers to confront and reflect on the human condition in deeply personal and profound ways. This exhibition encouraged students to explore how various social issues can be powerfully conveyed through sculptural art.

Students also visited the Art Gallery of NSW’s Tank space, an underground gallery known for hosting innovative and immersive exhibitions. Mike Hewson's highly interactive exhibition, The Key’s Under the Mat, is currently taking over this unique space. Ranked by Time Out as one of the top 20 best things to do in the world, this free, all-ages experience reimagines the gallery as a multi-sensory park and playground. Some students experienced interactive art in a gallery setting for the first time and were surprised by how effectively the installation created a meaningful connection with its audience. The exhibition combines playful exploration with reflective moments, inviting visitors to engage with art in new and unexpected ways.

The 2026 ArtExpress exhibition was also a highlight of the visit. This showcase allowed students to see the exceptional level of work produced by visual arts students, featuring a wide array of forms and mediums that illustrate highly accomplished bodies of work. Overall, it was a great day out—eye-opening, immersive and inspiring, giving students a broad perspective on the diverse forms of art available to them.

Year 9 Visual Arts | Sculpture

Our Year 9 students have embarked on an exciting creative journey, delving into the world of sculpture with a special focus on the work of renowned Australian Aboriginal artist Lin Onus and Lex Namponan’s Aurukan bush dogs. Through this project, students have been discovering the significance of sculptural art as a powerful medium to convey meaningful messages to an audience.

The project began with research, as students explored various dog breeds to inform their initial designs. Using practical materials such as newspaper, tape and plaster bandage, they carefully constructed their dog sculptures, bringing their ideas to life.

Currently, students are working on surface decoration, guided by a brief to keep their designs simple; a challenge that has pushed them to develop the valuable skill of artistic restraint. This simplicity helps create a clear focal point, enhancing the impact of their work. To make their sculptures even more personal, they have been encouraged to incorporate a touch of their own culture into the decoration.

The enthusiasm among students has been palpable throughout the process. They have enjoyed learning new techniques and are eagerly looking forward to seeing their finished sculptures. This project not only fosters creativity but also deepens their appreciation of art’s ability to communicate culture and stories.

Year 10 Students Immerse Themselves in Japanese Language and Culture

The Year 10 Japanese students recently enjoyed an exciting cultural excursion to the Nihongo Tanken Centre in Kirrawee. Travelling together by minibus, students spent the day fully immersed in Japanese language and culture through a range of interactive activities. Students participated in traditional Japanese games, explored authentic Japanese-style rooms and learnt about cultural etiquette and customs. A highlight of the day was enjoying delicious bento lunches in the peaceful zen garden setting. The excursion provided students with a fun and engaging opportunity to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture beyond the classroom.
