Work Experience & Morrisby Career Profiling

Year 10 Work Experience

The year 10 work experience provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore a range of different career pathways. A total of 56 students participated in placements across diverse industries, including trades and workshop environments, healthcare settings, schools, real estate, animal and veterinary services, and retail.

A significant proportion of these students undertook placements in healthcare services, hospitality and trades, highlighting a strong interest in both practical and people focused careers. This experience has supported students in developing workplace skills, building confidence, and gaining a clearer understanding of potential future pathways.

Wangaratta High School extends our sincere gratitude to the local employers and businesses that hosted our students for work placements. By providing hands-on experience in their chosen fields, you are actively shaping the future workforce of our Wangaratta community. We deeply value your ongoing support, mentorship and investing in the next generation.

Morrisby Career Profiling and Interviews

During the week 4-8 May the Year 9 students completed the Morrisby Career Profiling. The Morrisby Profile is a scientifically validated career assessment tool that combines timed aptitude tests with interest questionnaires to identify an individual's natural strengths and ideal career pathways. Widely used by schools and adult career changers, it matches cognitive abilities against hundreds of industries and provides lifetime access to an interactive portal for ongoing career exploration.

This week the students have had their follow up interviews. The Morrisby follow-up interview is a mandatory, 30-minute one-on-one consultation with a qualified career practitioner designed to translate complex psychometric data into an actionable career plan. This session unpacks the student's results, unpacks the difference between their natural aptitudes and current interests, and guides them through the interactive online portal to explore matching subject selections and industries.

The profiling to align with the upcoming course counselling and course selection process that will be starting at the start of term 3 (information to follow). Well done to the Year 9 students who participated, the feedback from the career practitioners was delightful, with comments of how well engaged and curious the students were.
