ATGEO Task 3 Fieldwork

The Year 12 ATAR Geography students got up close and personal with some of the South West's most loved and vulnerable species, the Carnaby and Red Tail Cockatoos, participating in geographical fieldwork at Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre this week.

Students are evaluating the strategies to address land cover change as part of their Depth Study Two unit. We were fortunate to meet and feed the resident dingoes, and pat the emus, and kangaroos as well as a number of rescued and rehabilitated cockatoos.

The work undertaken by this not-for-profit is remarkable and their unique facilities are tailored to provide the best care for these majestic birds, ensuring their eventual return to the wild.

Thank you to Issy for an informative day out and to Chisholm Catholic College for sharing this experience with SNC. If you’d like to volunteer or support the organisation, you can find all their details via the link below!
