Division 1 Men
The College boys came up against the Rams on Friday night prepared for a long, cold, wet game, with the weather app saying, “feels like -2°C”. Thankfully, we caught a break in the rain just as the game started and were able to play with some feeling in our fingers.
After a large portion of Thursday night’s training was spent focusing on goal scoring, the boys were able to put into practice what we learnt and score a total of four goals. Mark Jarvis, Isaac Shaw and Harry Brown all scored from short corners with a goal each, proving the team’s lethality from the top of the circle. Ciaran Nelson scored our 4th goal at the post from a rocketing pass from Harry Brown and a well-executed tap-in.
A huge shoutout to Harry Brown, who put on a dominant performance from the backline, also proving dangerous in the attacking half. Thanks to this performance, as well as that of the whole backline, midfielders, and attackers, we were able to pull through with a 4-2 win.

Division 1 Women
This week, the women faced Coleraine, ending in a three-all draw. Hoping the rain would hold off, we were prepared to get the game rolling. After the first quarter, we were down 1-0, but we soon fought back and levelled the game. I must mention Sophie Merrin's striking goal off a short corner and an amazing buzzer-beating deflection from Rosie Baker in the last quarter to tie the game. The first real rainy game of the season reminded us that hockey is a winter sport, with the rain slowing the game down considerably. But we dug deep, focused on our running and ball skills to keep our momentum going.
Shout out goes to Georgia Adams and Hannah Young, who played an amazing game in defence, stopping goals left and right. Thanks to Coleraine for a great game. Our girls are improving every week, and with only nine players on the field, we can definitely see our development increasing. We would like to thank Wendy Henderson and Ashley Read, our managers, for their support. We are also thrilled that Miss Waldron is finally back from Central Australia.
