Year 2 News

Thank you to all the families who attended the Three‑Way Chats this week. It was such a pleasure to sit with you and your child, and discuss the wonderful progress they have made so far this year.

A kind reminder that interviews for KN and MH will be held in Week 4. We are delighted that Mrs Nye and Mrs Hyde will be returning next week—they have been so missed by everyone in Grade 2, and we look forward to welcoming them back.

Inquiry Learning

This week has been truly heartwarming, as students shared treasured family objects during show-and-tell. Teachers have taken photos of each student with their special item, and these images will be used thoughtfully in upcoming lessons throughout the term.

Mathematics

We have begun exploring multiplication and division. You can support your child at home by practising skip‑counting by 2s, 5s and 10s—and if they’re ready, beginning with 3s too. These foundational skills will help build confidence.

NAIDOC Week & Visual Arts

In keeping with our NAIDOC Week celebrations, the children have been studying the story Awesome Emu over the past fortnight—delighting in both the text and its rich themes. They also created beautiful self‑portraits in Visual Arts, using pastel and paint to express their individuality. The results are colorful, original, and uplifting!

Year 1 News

We’ve had a busy and exciting start to Term 3! Students have settled back into school routines:

In Mathematics, we have been learning about length, investigating measuring objects with informal units such as paperclips, unifix blocks and popsicle sticks.

In Literacy, we have been learning new sounds such as ow and ou and reviewing the split digraph of the bossy e.

Footy Clinic

On Friday the 25th, the Grade One students had the opportunity to take part in a footy clinic with AFL Victoria. They learned proper kicking techniques and took part in a variety of fun and engaging games. The students had a fantastic time developing new skills and enjoying the experience.

Inquiry

This term, we are beginning our Inquiry with a focus on History, exploring how people, places, and events have shaped the world over time. We will learn to understand the past, investigate how it connects to the present, and think about how it might influence the future. It has been wonderful listening to the students' special Show and Tell this week!

Visual Arts

This term in Visual Arts, students will be exploring how and why artists express their ideas through different art forms. They will discover how artworks are created and learn to use materials and tools in safe and sustainable ways. This week, students created self-portraits using oil pastels and a paint wash, decorating their artwork with symbols that represent their identity. This activity connected with the theme of NAIDOC Week, as students learned through the stories and cultural expressions of Indigenous Australians.

Church Visit / Assembly Prayer

On Friday the 25th, the Grade One students visited our church and participated in a special Mass celebrated by Fr Junjun. After the Mass, Fr Junjun visited our classroom and shared a little bit about himself and where he comes from. The students enjoyed learning more about his life and asking him questions.

Reminder: Grade One will be on Assembly prayer on Friday the 8th.

All parents and special people are welcome to attend.
