From Mr Lachlan Barrett, Academic Staff
Congratulations to Lachlan Hunt, Tom Gibson, and Davey Elliott, who recently represented Kinross Wolaroi School at the CIS Football Carnival, held at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility on Tuesday 24 June, as part of the HICES Team.
It was a new experience for the boys - having to form connections and play cohesively with teammates they had only just met, all while navigating the natural desire to shine individually. It’s a tricky balance, and the KWS boys managed it with poise.
The calibre of competition was high, and our players demonstrated grit, resilience and determination in every match. While the HICES team didn’t secure a win on the day, Tom, Davey, and Lach should be commended for their outstanding sportsmanship. They each played with genuine team spirit, showed consistent respect for officials' decisions and proudly represented KWS as part of the broader HICES squad.
A special thank you to KWS staff member Erin Gibson, who served as the HICES coach for this event. Erin shared her pride in all the players, noting that:
“The greatest win was the way our players showed up, switched on, were committed and ready to grow every game. That kind of engagement builds a team culture that lasts, and Lach, Tom and Davey led this culture.”
We look forward to seeing what the future holds for these dedicated young footballers.
