Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and refreshing break. It’s always such a joy to see our students return with big smiles, ready to reconnect and learn together. This term we will celebrate a special event, our 100 Year Celebration! It’s a remarkable milestone that gives us the opportunity to reflect on our school’s proud history and the generations of students, staff, and families who have helped shape our community. I look forward to sharing in the excitement with you all as we prepare for this important event.
Tree Safety Audit and Upcoming Works
At Yarra Road Primary School, the safety of our students, staff, and families is always a top priority. As part of Department of Education requirements, all schools undertake regular tree audits to help identify any potential risks and ensure that outdoor spaces remain safe and enjoyable for everyone.
We are pleased to share that Yarra Road was successful in receiving a grant from the Department of Education to support this important work. As a result of the audit, a number of trees on our school grounds have been identified as needing trimming or, in some cases, removal to maintain a safe environment.
Specialist arborists will be onsite starting this Saturday the 2nd of August to carry out the necessary works, which will continue across the following week. While we always value and care for the natural beauty of our school grounds, these measures are essential to ensure the wellbeing of our entire school community. Thank you for your understanding and support as this work takes place.
Have Your Say – Parents Association Survey
The Parents Association is seeking input from our school community on how funds should be spent to best support our students and school. If you have ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear from you! Your feedback is important and will help guide future decisions. Please take a few moments to complete the short survey linked below, your voice matters.

School policies outline and communicate, school expectations, processes and procedures.
The Department of Education (DE) prescribes a cycle of policy review, that we follow, to ensure our policies are kept up to date and are compliant.
An important function of the School Improvement / Education Sub Committee (SIE) of School Council is to develop, review, and update school policies in accordance with DE requirements. Parents interested in policy review are welcome to join the SIE to participate in the policy review/development process, and do not need to be members of School Council. Please contact the school office if you are interested in participating.
Recently updated Yarra Road Policies include:
Child Safety and Wellbeing
Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations
Communication with School Staff
Respect for School Staff
Statement of Values and School Philosophy
Complaints
These and other policies are made readily available via the school website, ensuring that all members of the school community can easily access them. We encourage parents and carers, and where appropriate, students, to view Yarra Road Policies via the link below:
