Year Three Snapshot of Learning

Year Three Snapshot of Learning

This term, the Year Three students are exploring Australia’s place in the world. As part of this learning, and in recognition of NAIDOC Week, students engaged in a rich exploration of the diversity of Australia’s landscapes and cultures. A key focus was placed on the importance of Respect and understanding when acknowledging Australia’s First Nations Peoples, their deep connection to Country, and their role as the original custodians of the land.

We read and explored the Dreamtime story of the Rainbow Serpent, discussing its meaning as a story of creation. Drawing inspiration from Indigenous art, students then created their own interpretations of the Rainbow Serpent. This learning experience encourages students to think critically about their environment and appreciate cultural diversity.
