Term 3 Celebrations
This term, we are celebrating NAIDOC Week. The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s history, culture and achievements and is a great opportunity to learn about their rich culture. It is a time of celebration and connection between all peoples.
Over the first few weeks of Term 3, we celebrate as a whole school.
On Monday the 28th July, it was great to see so many students and staff wearing the colours of the red, black and yellow ( Aboriginal Flag colours). The special didgeridoo performance by Ganga Giri was amazing!
Throughout the next few weeks, special buddy activities are being created which will be displayed around the school and in the classrooms.
The students will be exploring different aspects of Indigenous people’s history, culture and achievements as part of their learning for the week and beyond. Furthermore, students in their specialist classes will also have the opportunity to learn about the sport, music and art of Aboriginal people.
