Celebrating Student Success

Premiers Debating Competition Update
In the second round of the Premiers Debating Competition, regional; our St Johns PS team faced off against Lansvale PS. The topic was: Should students who do not perform well complete studies over the holidays? Our team took the negative position.
Juliana, Paige, Lucas, and Elizabeth presented very strong arguments, skillfully using a number of rebuttals against the opposition’s model. Although they fought hard and demonstrated excellent debating skills, they were ultimately unsuccessful in securing the win this round.
Congratulations to the St Johns Park debaters who remain undefeated and continue to hold the title of Zone Champions. Well done to all teams for their dedication and sportsmanship!

Maths Cup 2025
On Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 nine enthusiastic Year 6 students proudly represented our school at the annual Maths Cup – an event that brings together talented mathematicians from across New South Wales. Competing in teams of three, our students faced a variety of challenging problem-solving tasks, logic puzzles, and mental maths questions. With over 102 teams participating from schools all over the state, the competition was intense and required not only strong mathematical ability but also collaboration, strategy, and time management.
Our teams demonstrated incredible focus and teamwork throughout the day. They approached each challenge with determination and a positive attitude, showcasing their deep understanding of mathematical concepts and their ability to think critically under pressure.
We are thrilled to share that two of our teams progressed to the semi-finals, and one team advanced to the grand final. After an intense round, our finalists finished in equal third place. Unfortunately, a tie-breaker round determined the final rankings, and our team placed 4th overall – an incredible achievement among such tough competition!
Congratulations to all nine students for their fantastic efforts and for representing our school with such enthusiasm and excellence. Events like the Maths Cup provide valuable opportunities for students to stretch their thinking, build confidence, and develop a love for mathematics beyond the classroom.
Well done to everyone involved!
