During Reading, students have been looking at texts about Sustainability and have had opportunities to summaries the main idea and supporting details of these texts. In Phonics we have been reviewing learnt graphemes (short vowels - a, e, i, o, u), CCVC and CVCC words and generalisations (FLOSS rule, ai/ay, oi/oy, ch/tch). Keep a look out in the home work for some more phonics practice tasks.

During Writing, students have been developing their knowledge of persuasive texts through the topic of Sustainability. They are able to form an opinion, and identify 3 supporting reasons. In the coming weeks, students will be writing a persuasive text, and later in the term students will be working on explaining the journey of rubbish.
Literacy Buddies - Keep a look out on Compass for an exciting workplace visit for the Grade 4 students.
During Numeracy, we have started working on multiplication. We have introduced strategies such as repeated addition and identifying equal groups. In the coming weeks we will work through a range of multiplication strategies. Keep a look out in homework for some practice tasks.

This term, our inquiry topic is Sustainability. We have started to develop vocabulary and make connections to recycling and pollution. In the coming weeks, students will be discussing how much rubbish we make in a day, and the journey of different types of rubbish.
