Principal's Message

Mrs Ameera Hassanein

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for another productive and engaging term ahead. Students have returned with great energy and are prepared to participate fully in their learning.

We would like to remind all families about the importance of regular school attendance. The department is currently enforcing very strict guidelines around student absences. Please note:

  • Late arrivals and early departures are recorded and counted as part of a student’s overall absence.
  • All absences are accumulated, and some families have already been flagged as high concern due to their child missing more than 20 days of school this year.

Ideally, students should have fewer than 10 days of absence per term to ensure consistent engagement with their learning.

While we understand that children need to stay home when unwell, it is essential that they attend school every day they are well. Regular attendance is key to academic progress and building strong routines.

Let’s work together to support every student’s success this term.

Everyday Counts Exciting Garden Play Area Project with Rotary Club

We are thrilled to announce a wonderful partnership between our students and the local Rotary Club! Together, they are co-designing a new garden play area that will transform our outdoor space into a vibrant, creative, and engaging environment for all students.

This collaborative project gives our students a unique opportunity to contribute their ideas and creativity, helping to shape a space that reflects their interests and needs. The Rotary Club’s support and expertise will help bring these ideas to life, creating a beautiful and inclusive play area that encourages exploration, learning, and fun.

We look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses and can’t wait to see the positive impact this garden play area will have on our school community.

Stay tuned for more exciting news!

Attendance is currently being closely monitored by the Department of Education as a significant concern, especially when students are frequently late, picked up early, or absent for more than 10 days in a school year. These attendance issues will be addressed by our front office staff and teachers and discussed further during upcoming parent-teacher interviews.

A few important reminders for families:

  • Every day counts—missing school impacts your child’s learning progress and social connections.
  • Schools want to partner with parents. If you have any concerns about attendance, please contact the school promptly or record absences through Compass.
  • There is no safe number of days to miss school; even small amounts of missed time can have negative effects.
  • Speak positively about school and the importance of regular attendance.
  • Avoid scheduling routine medical or dental appointments during school hours and try not to plan family holidays during term time.
  • If you’re worried about your child’s attendance or wellbeing, please seek support from the school. We are here to work with you to support your child’s success.

Open and timely communication between parents and school is essential in addressing attendance concerns early and effectively.
