National Aquathlon Success – Congratulations Kale’a and Ben!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Kale’a Stephens and Ben Rickel, who recently represented Victoria at the National Aquathlon Championships at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast.

Aquathlon is a demanding multisport event combining swimming and running, requiring not only high levels of fitness, but also resilience, discipline and mental toughness. Over the course of a gruelling week of competition, both students demonstrated these qualities at the highest level.

Their championship journey began on the Monday with an Opening Ceremony, followed by a packed week of racing:

  • Tuesday: Individual Qualifier – 150m swim / 1km run
  • Wednesday: Single Leg Relay and Mixed Team Relay – 200m swim / 1.2km run
  • Thursday: Individual Qualifier – 100m swim / 800m run
  • Friday: Championship Final – 600m run / 200m swim / 600m run

To compete across multiple days in events of this intensity takes an incredible mindset. Early mornings, tired bodies and the pressure of repeated competition can test even the most experienced athletes. However, Kale’a and Ben showed the power of consistency in training, determination and the ability to stay focused when it mattered most.

Their results were outstanding with Kale’a finishing 11th Overall in Australia and Ben – 25th Overall in Australia

Congratulations, Kale’a and Ben, on this incredible achievement. We are so proud of the way you represented yourselves, your state and our school community.

This achievement is a reflection of the commitment many students have shown through their training. Their willingness to practise, work hard and keep improving is a great reminder that effort and persistence lead to growth and success. It has been fantastic to see students build their fitness, confidence and resilience through regular training.

We congratulate all qualifiers on their outstanding efforts and wish them the very best as they compete at District level and represent our school with pride.
