MPPS Anzac Assembly!

MPPS recently came together to commemorate ANZAC Day at our recent Monday assembly. Students and staff gathered to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served.

The assembly featured thoughtful student speeches that highlighted the 3/4's recent trip to the Shrine of rememberence. A minute of silence was observed, providing an opportunity for quiet reflection and respect, followed by music that honoured the service and sacrifice of our armed forces.

FINN & HENRY'S SPEECH

"Hi. I am Finn and this is Henry,

We are so grateful that we had the chance to visit the Shrine of Remembrance on Friday, just before Anzac Day. It was a fun and meaningful experience.

Outside the Shrine, there were people setting up cameras, lights and stands, ready for the Dawn Service. We looked at the buildings, stood by the Eternal Flame and Cenotaph, and as we walked around to the Education Centre, we could see that everything at the Shrine has symbolic meaning.

The surrounding area of the Shrine is just as meaningful as the building itself. 

There are statues and remembrance walls, and the gardens are planted with special meaning. Each of the trees had a plaque in front of it, explaining its importance.

The education volunteers gave up their time to show us around the Shrine. They told us a lot about the different items in the Shrine, the animals and the soldiers who took part in World War 1 and Gallipoli. We got to see one of the boats that took soldiers to the battle ground of Gallipoli. 

We were also shown a pine cone and told about the battle of Lone Pine. The soldiers liked to play games of cricket on the beach when they had some time to rest.

Everyone learned something new from visiting the Shrine of Remembrance. It is an important place to see.
