Dear Families, Students and Mordialloc College Community,

I write this at the end of a busy Term 1; with only the Athletics Carnival left to go we have really made the most of this first part of 2026. This week we had our Year 12 Formal, and our Semester 1 Parent Teacher Interviews; I really do want to thank all of the families who attended the nearly 4000 interviews that occurred throughout the day; we know that the success of our students depends on fantastic relationships with our families.

The last day of term will go out with a bang as we take part in our Athletics Carnival. I will be wearing Yerlonga blue and I can’t wait to see our students and staff all dressed in their house colours and costumes, it really adds to the wonderful atmosphere we always have on this day. Thanks to our Sports Coordinator, Andrew Potter for his organisation of this event, which is always very popular with the students and staff alike.

Leadership Induction Whole School Assembly

On Tuesday 17th March, it was an absolute pleasure to formally recognise our students who have been successful in achieving a leadership position on the Mordialloc College Student Council for 2026.

A big thank you to the Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC, MP and Tim Richardson MP for their inspiring words at our Whole School Leadership assembly. It was a pleasure to have them join me with the presentation of the leadership badges and certificates.

Richard Williams Scholarship

Richard ‘Dick’ Williams was a  Mordialloc College alum and an unsung local hero. He worked tirelessly for others, especially those in his beloved Mordialloc community.

After his passing in 2020, a few of his close mates got together to create a Scholarship Fund in his memory.

This Fund is an important part of his legacy, keeping Dick’s generosity of spirit alive. He would be proud to know that he continues to make a difference to people’s lives.

We thank Dick’s close friends and family for making this possible and taking the time to come to our Leadership Assembly to present to our scholarship winners: Lucy Carless, Molly Duncan, Alexzander (Zander) Howell, Mieka Silver and Quinn Van Twuiver.

Congratulations to our recipients of the Richard Williams Scholarship.

Year 12 Formal

On Monday 30th March, our Year 12 cohort travelled to The Grand on Princes for their Year 12 Formal.

This event is the one that students most look forward to, and I am more than happy to report that it was a fabulous night!

Everyone looked amazing and it was wonderful to see teachers and students alike engaging in some fun dance moves. Lots of amazing photos were taken and keep an eye out for the Mordialloc Facebook or Instagram for pictures and videos of all our senior school students and staff having a very enjoyable night!

Our events happen because so many of our staff go above and beyond to ensure our students are provided with these opportunities to connect, and to create wonderful memories. From the organisation of the event, to the chaperoning of (and boogying with!) our Year 12 students, a massive thanks to staff for pulling this sensational evening together.

School Community News

Compass Cards and Photographs

Compass cards and school photos will be given out to students in Term 2, week 1.

I cannot reiterate enough the importance of supporting your child to look after their Compass Card. Each student can use their card to get into their bathrooms around the school, to loan equipment including books and sports equipment, as Transport Victoria ID to get reduced PTV travel, and in spaces where proof that you are a student provides reduced costs.

If your child loses their card, you are able to purchase a new one via your Compass App.

Working with Kingston Council to Reduce Litter

We are a key part of the Moridalloc Community and as such, we will always work with other stakeholders to support the wider school community. With that in mind, you will hopefully have seen Local Laws Officers from Kingston Council around Mordialloc College who, in response to our request for support, will be out and about providing education to our students and their families about how to reduce litter around Mordialloc Creek.

Again, we ask for you to have a conversation with your child about how they are disposing of their litter, and for you to have high expectations about how they dispose of the packaging that so many students bring to school in their lunch boxes.
