A Message from Amanda Williams
Dear Parents and Carers,
A very warm welcome back to Term 2. I hope all of our families had the opportunity to rest and recharge after what was a busy and exciting Term 1.
We are looking forward to a fantastic Term 2 ahead, with many exciting events and opportunities for our students and families.
Well done to all students who were back at school on day 1! All students who were present received a special certificate celebrating their readiness for learning. Parents and carers can support their child to be successful by being at school on time and being at school every day.

What does secondary education look like at Truganina P-9 College? This special event is an invitation for all families—both primary and secondary—to experience what learning looks like in our secondary school (Years 7–9).
These years are a critical time as students transition from primary into junior secondary schooling, and we are excited to showcase the rich learning opportunities available and how we prepare our students for their senior secondary years. All families and their children are warmly invited to attend.
We are pleased to share information about our 2027 Spain Trip, which will offer two pathways:

Further details about these exciting study opportunities will be shared at an upcoming information session:
This term, a number of our Year 9 students will participate in the School for Student Leadership – Don Valley Campus residential program.
Located in Don Valley within the beautiful Yarra Valley, this program provides students with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills through outdoor and environmental experiences, including hiking, exploring the Yarra River, and engaging with the surrounding national parks.
This opportunity is available to all Year 9 students each year and supports the development of self-awareness, community connection, and leadership capacity. We look forward to sharing some of their adventures with you!

A highlight this term will be the start up of the Stand Up Program by our 2026 NEW Stand Up Student Champions in a student-led anti-bullying initiative.
An information session for families will be held:
Parent Session: Tuesday 5th May
Time: 3:30pm (1 hour)
Location: Library
At Truganina College, we have zero tolerance for bullying, racism, and anti-social behaviour. Our College values, alongside programs such as Stand Up and PCMS, support us in maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all.
The AEU has advised that further industrial action, including stop-work action, will occur across Victorian government schools this term. I thank families for your continued understanding and support of our staff. Please be assured that staff do not make decisions regarding industrial action lightly and always with the broader interests of our profession and students in mind. We will continue to communicate updates as soon as official information becomes available, and we will provide as much notice as possible to support families in their planning. Our AEU sub branch has informed me that they will be taking half a day stop action on Wednesday 13th May. There will not be classes for students for the first half of this day for classes of teachers who are striking. Students of these classes will NOT be marked as absent.
On behalf of the College, I look forward to an exciting term ahead and to seeing many of you at our upcoming events as we continue to work together in supporting your child’s education at Truganina College.
