Music Week Lunchtime Concerts
The final weeks of Term 1 hosted the Kilvington Music Week. Events included two lunchtime concerts where almost 40 Junior School students took up the opportunity to perform for their friends and family.
This included students from Prep to Year 6 performing across a wide range of musical instrument families. Congratulations to all of the students who participated in these great events.
Battle of the Bands
Music Week concluded on the last Tuesday of Term 1 with the Battle of the Bands. This year’s event featured four groups, who performed for an enthusiastic audience on the PVC Lawn.
Congratulations to all the performers, particularly the Year 10 band Xavier and the Jog-Ongs for winning the audience vote!
Jazz Cabaret
One of the highlights of the Term 1 Performing Arts calendar was the Jazz Cabaret.
This year the performance moved to a larger venue at the St Kilda Town Hall, where a capacity audience enjoyed a fantastic night of performances from our Senior School ensembles, choirs and soloists.
The music included a range of jazz standards, popular songs and classics from the stage and screen.
Student Achievement
Australian National Brass Band Championships
Over the Easter break three Kilvington students – Henry Amado (4G), Thomas Amado (5M), and Lucas Amado (6M) – performed with the Hyde Street Youth Band in the Junior A Division, the highest junior brass band division in Australia.
The band achieved an outstanding 2nd place nationally, an incredible result for musicians aged just 9, 10, and 12 performing at this level.
It was a huge moment for them, and a testament to the confidence, musicianship, and ensemble skills they continue to develop through their involvement in the Kilvington music program.
