HSIE

Stage 5 have been heading into town on a Thursday morning and viewing and recreating historic photos. We viewed some photos of 1000 men and mounted infantry marching through Camden in 1916 on their way to WWI. It was hard to imagine with all the changes and today’s traffic, but it really hit home that our town was directly involved with WWI. We also explored the graveyard at St Johns and found many familiar Camden surnames, some who paid the ultimate sacrifice in WWI.

Work Experience/EXCEL Program

2025 has offered many of our Stage 5 students a wide range of valuable work experience opportunities. Students explored a variety of industries and workplaces, including Macarthur Tiles N Trade, Southwells Lifts & Hoists, WesTrac CAT, Cummins, Priceline, Carrington Aged Care, Tyrepower, ICustom Auto House, the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary Bargo, Knock-Down Pest Control, Macarthur Pets and Woolworths at Oran Park.

One student showed great courage by applying for casual employment and was thrilled to secure a job at a local café. Another student successfully obtained a full-time welding apprenticeship beginning in 2026.

The Work Excel program has been a tremendous success. It has been wonderful witnessing the growth, confidence, and independence of our students throughout the year. I look forward to supporting even more students in 2026 and continuing to provide meaningful employment opportunities.
