Senior School Term 4 Update

Term 4 Highlights by Alex Jones

A few weeks ago, the senior school went to Hicks Reserve for a picnic with their prep buddies. The day was absolutely beautiful and sunny, especially considering we were playing sports and many more fun activities. This was the perfect time for all of us to connect as buddies and grow our friendships, and celebrate the year. We played classic games like duck-duck-goose, soccer, and played some  tag.

On Monday the 24th of November the Year 5 and 6 students  went to Aspendale beach alongside Year 3 and Year 4. All of us played games like volleyball, catch, and having fun in the sand. Even though we couldn't go in the water due to poor water quality it was still a blast. Everyone learnt how to save someone's life and how to use a paddle board, as well as important beach safety information.

Learning in Maths by Aryana Corbett

This term in Maths we have been learning about how algorithms work and how to make them. It's been really fascinating to see how algorithms work and having the opportunity to experiment with ones made by ourselves and others. It's also really interesting seeing the patterns made, as well as the answers to the algorithms because if you repeat it, most likely it comes up with the same number each time, and seeing people's reactions is fun to see. We have also explored concepts such as percentages, probability and tessellations.

Learning in English by Hayes Woolgar

This term in English we have read Black Cockatoo and learnt about natural disasters such as bushfires, floods, cyclones and droughts. In Writing we have worked on narratives, different types of poetry, presentations and reports about different disaster types.

Student Leadership by Mackenzie Sleep and Lexi Ravenhall

Becoming a leader is such an achievement, it's not all about presenting at assembly and wearing a badge. It’s about showing pride in our school, being kind to everyone and consistently showing our school values.

I came to Orchard Park last year in Term 2. It's a shock that I got to be the school captain for being there for such a short time period. It shows that it doesn't matter how long you're at a school but what matters is that you're a good role model and a kind person. A few things I have loved about being a school captain is presenting in front of the school showing them that I'm confident and proud that I get to lead the school. I have loved going to special events, preparing for formal presentations and speeches and getting to spend time with people I wouldn't usually hang out with. This has opened a lot of learning opportunities for me. I am so proud of all the new school leaders who get to present in front of the school and take on new challenges and show everyone why they got this role. I want to wish the best of luck to all new school leaders. I am so happy I get to pass the role and responsibilities to our next group of young leaders. I want to say a massive thank you to Mrs McEachern for helping us prepare for assemblies and giving us so many more learning opportunities as student leaders.

Mackenzie Sleep, 2025 School Captain

When Mackenzie read my name for becoming a school captain I was shocked but also happy since now I get to take on her role to lead the school with pride. Being a leader gives me more responsibility but I can get support from all the other awesome leaders and  teachers at Orchard Park. I have been here since the beginning of this school's opening and have proudly shown our values and represented the school with pride. Next year I hope to be a confident speaker and an encouraging leader to all. I will take this role and remember it. I'm so proud of myself for achieving this role. I am looking forward to working with the other student leaders and making a great team for 2026. I'm so excited for what next year has to offer and what we will accomplish as a student leadership team. All current student leaders  have shown incredible responsibility and pride in this school. It is sad to see them go but we wish them the best of luck at high school.

End of Year 6 by Gurnaaz Kaur and Hannah Patel

This year 2025, was the last year at primary school for us Year 6 students.  We have had lots of fun, amazing and exciting activities and have had the best time and best year! We are so thankful for some of the events we have had such as Gumbuya World, graduation, Prep Buddies Excursion at Hicks Reserve, Aspendale beach excursion, Sovereign Hill camp, interschool sports, colour run ,athletics, Suessical, Grandparents day and our Christmas concert. The list goes on! These were the best opportunities and we are so grateful to be included in these excursions, and have had a memorable year. The Year 6 students are very excited for Year 7 next year because they will have new learning opportunities, have new experiences and they will meet new people. Some new subjects will be food tech, science and all subjects will be on a higher level.

We wish all the current Year 6 students the best for high school next year.
