College News

The New Loreto App
Earlier this year, the College introduced our new School Information System, TASS, which provides families with secure access to pay College fees via the TASS Parent Orbit App. We are pleased to confirm that the College has now transitioned fully to the TASS Parent Orbit App for College information as well as financial accounts, replacing the previous Loreto Digistorm App.
The TASS Parent Orbit App provides families with a single, convenient platform to access College information and resources, including PAM, FlexiSchools, and College news without needing to switch between multiple apps. As such, families who previously used the Digistorm App may now delete it, as it is no longer in use.
All families were provided with access to the TASS Parent Orbit App when TASS was first introduced. If you have not yet logged in or have misplaced the original welcome email, please contact the Finance Office at accounts@loreto.vic.edu.au and we will assist you with access.
The College will continue to progressively roll out additional features and functionality through the TASS Parent Orbit App. As this platform becomes the primary and central way the College communicates and interacts with families, it is important that all parents and carers download, log in, and actively use the app.
We appreciate your support as we continue to streamline and enhance our communication with families.
Championing Change for Women and Girls
By Jemima Knobel – Year 11
In Term 4, Loreto College Ballarat welcomed Women for Change; an organisation committed to transforming the lives of Afghan women both in Afghanistan and Australia.
The event was organised by the Mavericks, a student led group who empower one another to be changemakers on gender-based issues that we see in our community and across the globe. One issue these students have been focusing on is raising awareness of women and girls who have been denied basic rights in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over in 2021.
The Mavericks were fortunate to hear from Lida, a passionate advocate for women in Afghanistan and founder of Women for Change, who actively work for girls to access education since being deprived of this right by the Taliban. Lida spoke about how powerful the Mavericks can be to lift the voices of these women and girls ensuring that this issue is not forgotten about in our changing world. The Mavericks will continue to work with Women for Change to raise awareness and strive to be advocates for gender equality in our world.
Year 9s and the Western Bulldogs
On Wednesday 3 December, Tom Liberatore, Arthur Jones and Louis Emmet from the Western Bulldogs Footy Club came to Loreto to speak with the Year 9 cohort. They spoke about their experiences in and out of footy and explained ups and lows as professional athletes.
We asked questions about their diet, training and tips to keep focused in games. At the end we got their signatures and got photos!
Celebrating a Year of Professional Learning at Loreto College
By Stephanie Greet - Director of Professional Engagement
As 2025 draws to a close, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate the vibrant journey of professional learning at Loreto College. This year, our Professional Learning Community (PLC) embraced a shared commitment to deepening practice, fostering collaboration, and enhancing student outcomes through inquiry-driven learning cycles.
Our focus for 2025 centred on learner attributes—the qualities that empower students to thrive in a complex and ever-changing world. These included:
- Student Agency – partnering with Melbourne University to explore strategies that give students voice and choice in their learning.
- Critical Thinking, Curiosity, Collaboration, Focus, and Engagement – facilitated by our own talented educators who led rich discussions and practical applications.
Literacy Development – through a Year 7 & 8 Literacy Pilot, guided by Instructional Coach Chris Brown, to strengthen foundational skills and confidence in reading and writing.
The culmination of these efforts was nothing short of inspiring. Our cross-group learning circles brought together educators from diverse disciplines to share their inquiry cycles, celebrate successes, and reflect on challenges. These vibrant conversations showcased the power of collective expertise and the joy of professional growth.
And yes, even Twiggy seemed to pick up a few new tricks along the way!
The learning circle PLC images remind us that professional learning is a continuous journey. By investing in collaboration and curiosity, we create classrooms where students and teachers, flourish.
