Year 3 Camp - Camp Sunnystones
Between Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 November, our Year 3 students headed off to camp at Camp Sunnystones.
Olivia Chowanetz (3D Millward) has shared a recount, pictured below.
For three days and two nights, fifty Year 3 students and some teachers went to Camp Sunnystones near Bacchus Marsh.
First, we arrived at Long Forest and participated in a bush walk led by Bree, our guide. At the homestead, we ate lunch before getting into teams to do geocaching in the bush. After this, we prepared our cabins before a yummy pasta dinner with garlic bread. We had a trivia competition before bed.
The next day, we split into groups to take part in hut building, bush cooking, games and archery. Bush cooking was interesting because we made chocolate cake inside an empty orange. Archery was the activity with most students. The day ended with some free time before dinner and bed.
On our final day, we packed our bags before cabin inspections. In four teams - germs, humans, carnivores and herbivores - we played the Survival Game. The germs won by five points! For lunch we had a BBQ and a Zooper Dooper. It was then time to board the bus home.
Overall, the camp was a great success, with everyone challenging themselves and having fun outdoors. I recommend this experience to anyone in Year 2 going into Year 3.
Descriptive Paragraph Writing
The students of 3D practised how to write descriptive settings to enhance their narratives and promote reader engagement. To complete this task, the students were given different images to analyse. They then used a range of image-related vocabulary to write their sentences and craft a descriptive paragraph.
Friends of Junior School Luncheon
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful Friends of Junior School Class Representatives for organising such a beautiful Staff Appreciation Lunch. Your thoughtfulness, time and effort created a warm and uplifting event that truly made our teachers and staff feel valued.
Our school community is one of our greatest strengths, and this gesture is a perfect example of the kindness and connection that make it so special. The partnership between families and staff enriches the experience of every child, and we are continually grateful for the generosity and spirit shown by our parent community.
Thank you for everything you do—and for reminding us once again how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive and vibrant school community.
