Year 10 News
Vermont Secondary College
We are coming up to the final days of 2025, and we wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your hard work, personal growth, respect, excellence, integrity…. The list goes on! We are so impressed by you all, despite deadlines, assessments, excursion you didn’t want to attend, exams you didn’t want to sit, despite some complaint you all took it on with grace. You should be so proud of yourselves!
You have all been completing said exams, with some of you completing your first ever Year 11 exams! Sitting VCE assessments for the first time is a big step, and you all made it look so easy, and really engaged with your learning.
Another big milestone coming up! Transition (Monday 1st December - Friday 5th December) just a reminder 2026 Year 11 students will have normal classes at school Monday – Wednesday and all year 11 blocks will have two lessons in the week. Block 3 and Block 6 will have lessons during period 3 and period 4 on Wednesday. A detailed lesson plan will be uploaded to Compass for the 3rd lesson which will be completed at home.
This is a chance to meet your VCE teachers and get a feel for what senior study will be like. Go in with an open mind and stay positive even when it feels new and scary! Ask questions, take notes, and use the time to get to know your peers, and your teachers. Also remember that respectful interactions matter more than you might realise. The way you treat your teachers and peers shapes the culture of your classrooms. A simple “good morning,” listening when others speak, contributing thoughtfully, and choosing kindness goes a long way.
Your teachers as you move into Year 11 are your key resource! If you’re confused, overwhelmed, or need guidance, talk to your teachers early. They genuinely want to help you succeed, and they appreciate honesty and effort and are more willing to help than you may first think!
And finally, thank you for an incredible year. As your student managers, your humour, your growth, your resilience and your willingness to participate has made the year what is is! We are so proud as your Student Managers, and we are so excited for what your next two years has in store. We will miss you!
For the last time this year,
Ms Muhtaseb, Mr Connell, Ms Bird, Mr Duiveman.
