This Week At OOPS

This fortnight in the Kitchen Garden has been full of exciting activities! Students have been busy harvesting delicious beetroot, carrots, broad beans, strawberries, raspberries and Chinese cabbage. There’s been plenty of taste testing straight from the garden, and some of the fresh produce was used to make a tasty salad in the kitchen.
The fruit trees around the school are growing beautifully, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on the cherries and apricots as they change in size and colour. Armann, and a select group of lucky students, will be making jam using the apricots from our OOPS garden, to sell at next years fete.
While exploring the garden, students have been finding lots of interesting minibeasts and observing how they move and live in the garden.
A big thank you to Greenlink Nursery and Whitehorse Council for kindly donating new plants, which we’ve planted near the back of the school in the teacher’s carpark. Students helped to plant, stake and protect the seedlings using a wind guard. It was great seeing everyone get involved and helping out.
The garden is looking greener and more vibrant than ever! 🌻🥕🍒
