Year 9 Science Students Shine at CSIRO STEM Showcase
In late November, some of our Year 9 Science students had the incredible opportunity to attend the CSIRO STEM Showcase at the Camden Civic Centre. They presented their innovative projects to council members, STEM experts, and members of the community, receiving valuable feedback and recognition.
This experience was not only an amazing evening but also a remarkable milestone for our students. All students who participated in the Generation STEM Community Project achieved their Bronze Crest award, and those who presented their projects at the Showcase were awarded a Bronze Crest Medallion.
Mr Buckley and Mrs Nath were truly amazed by the dedication and passion our Year 9 students brought to this project. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the commitment they showed throughout the process.
STEM education plays a vital role in preparing students for the future workforce, equipping them with critical skills in problem solving, innovation and collaboration that are essential in today’s rapidly evolving job market.
Congratulations to all the students involved in the CSIRO Generation STEM Project — your hard work and innovative spirit continue to inspire us all!
Girls in STEM Amazon Tech Day Inspires Future Innovators
Our female students recently took part in the exciting Girls in STEM Amazon Tech Day, where they engaged in a variety of interactive activities designed to inspire and empower young women in technology. The event featured a panel of female experts who shared their personal experiences and valuable advice, including practical tips on using Canva to create standout CVs.
Students had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technology first hand by using VR glasses and wands, interacting with a robotic dog and humanoid robot, and coding Ozobots. They also worked on decoding challenging problems and participated in insightful career chats, gaining a clearer understanding of pathways in STEM fields.
This event provided a fantastic platform for our students to discover new skills, build confidence, and envision their futures in technology and innovation. We are proud to support programs that encourage girls to pursue STEM careers and look forward to seeing how these experiences inspire their journey ahead.
iSTEM Students Celebrate Course Completion
Our Year 10 iSTEM students have successfully completed their 200 hour course, and our Year 9 iSTEM students have finished their 100 hour course. Both groups will receive their certificates of course completion as part of their yearly reports.
These certificates are an important recognition of the valuable skills students have developed throughout their iSTEM studies. The course emphasises critical problem solving skills, technological competency, innovation, creativity, and collaboration, all essential attributes in today’s rapidly evolving job market.
Mrs Nath and the STEM teachers are proud to see how their students have evolved and grown over the course of this program, demonstrating remarkable dedication and progress.
By completing the iSTEM program, students are better prepared for high demand careers that require adaptability and interdisciplinary knowledge. This prepares them not only to excel personally but also to contribute to economic growth and technological advancement in the wider community.
We congratulate all our iSTEM students on their achievements and look forward to seeing how these skills support their futures.
