Principal's Message

Brock Wilson

We are now nearly in December. This term is flying by!

Student Leadership:

I was very proud to sit on a panel this morning where we interviewed prospective school captains for 2026. A whopping 72 students applied for leadership positions in 2026 and that was recently shortlisted down to just 7 that were interviewed this morning. We are not quite ready to make the announcements just yet, but I can say that the calibre of applications was outstanding, and all students interviewed spoke incredibly well. I was particularly proud to see how invested and enthusiastic our students are to work with us to make the school an even better place next year. Watch this space in the coming weeks for our new leaders to be revealed.

Foundation Transition:

On Wednesday this week, we were joined by our newest students – the 2026 Preps! It was wonderful to see so many wide-eyed and smiling faces and I personally enjoyed meeting some new families as well. I’m sure you will all join me in reaching out to the new faces in our community next year and help them feel as welcome as you all made me feel when I begun at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School this year. The next 2026 Foundation Transition Session is on again on Wednesday next week from 9am. As always, you can reach out to our office for more information regarding this or any of the other upcoming events.

Disagreements in the yard:

We’ve been doing a lot of work recently working with our students to learn who to turn to when they need help. Please help us support this work by discouraging children on asking older family members to come and help them with a problem they are having with another student. Though well intentioned, getting an older sibling generally makes the situation worse and escalates things unnecessarily. We thoroughly staff our school during all outside periods, so there are always adults in bright orange vests supervising and available to help with any issues. Please join us by encouraging your child to look out for them if they need support.

Upcoming Events:

There are some special events to add to your calendar in the next few weeks, including:

Step Up Day on the 9th of December

Success Day on the 11th of December

Year 6 Graduation and Meet Your Teacher Day on the 17th of December

5/6 Fun Fields Celebration on the 18th of December

All these events will provide a great opportunity to celebrate what has been a fantastic year of learning here at RHPS!

Have a lovely weekend and I hope to see you all again before the year is through.

Kind Regards,

Brock Wilson
