MIDDLE SCHOOL | 2026

Dear Years 9 and 10 Parents/Carers and Students

I would like to introduce myself as the Campus Principal who will be overseeing Year 9 and 10 in 2026. I am excited to work with the Middle School team and to support our students as they continue their learning and make the most of the great opportunities available at Frankston High School.

During Early Commencement, it has been wonderful to meet students, both at the Year 10 Assembly and in Year 9 English classes. I have enjoyed speaking with them about the opportunities that come with new classes, new teachers, and a fresh start. We also reflected on the importance of our school values, which shape how we work together every day and reflect what we believe in, how we behave, and what we stand for both in and beyond the classroom:

  • Respect: We act with respect by being safe, kind and fair.

  • Responsibility: We take responsibility by making positive choices and owning our actions.

  • Resilience: We demonstrate resilience by accepting and persevering through challenges.

  • Empathy: We show empathy by being inclusive and compassionate.

Having previously had the privilege of working predominantly on the Senior Campus as Campus Principal for Years 11 and 12, I shared with the Year 10 cohort how much I am looking forward to seeing them step into their role as leaders on the 7–10 Campus next year. Year 10 is a significant and exciting stage, one focused on exploring personal interests and passions, participating in a week of work experience, and engaging deeply in career education. These experiences will support students to make informed decisions about their VCE or VCE VM pathway in Term 3 of 2026.

Meanwhile, our Year 9 students have taken a big leap into Middle School, navigating their first week of core subjects and electives with positivity and curiosity.

I encourage all Middle School students to make the most of the incredible opportunities available at Frankston High School. To give just a snapshot of the diverse experiences taking place right now: a group has returned from competing in the Australian Basketball Championships on the Gold Coast; our Lifesaving Camp is underway at the Portsea Lifesaving Club; students are representing Frankston High School at the Australian School Athletics Challenge at Lakeside Stadium; another group has returned from their World Challenge Expedition in Sri Lanka; and our successful applicants for the Kokoda Expedition have begun their preparations for 2026. Through these experiences, students are able to embody our school motto, Optima Semper - striving always for their best.

I am very much looking forward to getting to know all Year 9 and 10 students, and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting my Early Commencement Optima classes.

As we close the year, I would like to congratulate the Class of 2025 on the outstanding achievement of receiving your Year 12 results on Thursday 11 December. Over the past two years, I have watched you grow into capable and determined young adults. You have embraced opportunities, faced challenges with persistence, and continued to discover who you are. In doing so, you have embodied our pillars of Excellence, Community, and Aspiration

Thank you to our Year 12 teachers for your dedication, care, and commitment in helping the Class of 2025 achieve their goals. Your work extends far beyond the classroom, you have nurtured wellbeing, built confidence, and helped shape the character of every student.

I would also like to acknowledge Ms Brittany Harvey, Ms Kelly Mitchell and Ms Kate Burgess for their exceptional leadership. Your guidance, energy and care created a learning environment where students felt supported, connected and motivated to succeed. Additionally, thank you to our Careers Team for supporting students through this milestone, results, VTAC preference changes and offer rounds, particularly with December offers arriving so close to Christmas.

We look forward to celebrating the achievements of all students at our Presentation Night at the Frankston Arts Centre on Monday 15 December. In our 101st year, we are excited to introduce a new addition to the existing Optima Semper and Academic Excellence awards, the Pillar Awards, which have been presented at termly assemblies throughout the year. Our pillars are foundational to our vision:

  • Community: Recognising active contribution, collaboration, and leadership that strengthens our school and wider community.

  • Excellence: Celebrating achievement through consistent effort and continual improvement.

  • Aspiration: Acknowledging goal setting, perseverance, and a commitment to personal growth.

As we conclude another fantastic year, I would like to wish all students, staff and families a safe and restful holiday break. Enjoy the time to relax, recharge, and connect with loved ones. We look forward to seeing you in 2026 for another successful and exciting year at Frankston High School.
