YEAR 7 JAPANESE | Taiko Drumming Workshop

Our Year 7 Japanese students were lucky enough to take part in an exciting Taiko Drumming Workshop this term, on Tuesday 11 November. Throughout the session, students were introduced to the rich cultural history of Taiko, learning how this traditional Japanese drumming style has been used in festivals, ceremonies, and performance for centuries.

Under the guidance of our workshop instructor, each class learned a range of rhythmic patterns and techniques. Students then worked collaboratively to build these rhythms into a group performance. The energy in the room was fantastic as students explored the power, teamwork, and discipline involved in Taiko drumming.

It was a highly engaging and memorable experience, with all students thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to learn something new, work together, and deepen their understanding of Japanese culture.
