Year 7 Visual Arts

Students in Year 7 have wrapped up their water-inspired lino prints, carving a series of lines to represent water. They then cut bold geometric shapes and layering them into striking collaged artworks. Their creativity flowed just like the theme itself, resulting in a vibrant collection of pieces that truly stand out.

They also tried their hand at clay, using pinch-pot techniques to sculpt imaginative little cars — each one full of character, charm and represented their personalities. With the final touches of paint now underway, their creations are nearly ready to roll.

What a fantastic effort to finish the year — a celebration of skill, curiosity, and creativity!

Year 8 Visual Arts

Year 8 students have explored the rich world of cultural masks, crafting their own papier-mâché creations and painting them to reflect the traditions and stories of their chosen cultures. Their dedication shines through, with each student producing a mask that is both unique and deeply expressive.

They also completed a clay taster unit, shaping pinch pots designed to embody a single emotion — inspired by the characters from Inside Out. With the final layers of paint now being added, these emotional clay pieces are nearly ready for display.

What a wonderful, creative way to wrap up the year!

This term, Year 7 and 8 students have been exploring circles and constructing cylinders to strengthen their geometrical knowledge. Most recently, students explored the nets of cylinders and discovered the many ways that they can create nets from paper and cardboard to construct these three-dimensional solids. Students have been using formulas to find the areas of circles and volume of cylinders and applying this knowledge to a range of problems. These problems included analysing the differences between estimating volume and capacity using cubes and finding the exact values using measurements and the volume formula. Students also completed a cylinder hunt around the playground to understand the importance of cylinders in our day-to-day lives.

Stage 5 Visual Arts

Stage 5 Visual Arts students have transformed blank skateboard decks into expressive works of art, using paint, layers, and papier-mâché to bring their visions of beach culture or punk style to life. Their hard work has truly paid off — several of these standout pieces have even been selected for display at the Cowra Art Gallery as part of a regional showcase of high school talent.

Recently, students have also immersed themselves in the vibrant traditions of the Day of the Dead festival, drawing inspiration from their research and the film Coco. Each student sculpted their own skull and carved intricate patterns into the form, creating pieces rich with symbolism and craftsmanship. Though still awaiting their final coats of paint, these artworks are already impressive and promise to be stunning once completed.

A fantastic effort and a testament to their creativity and dedication!

Stage 5 Food Technology

Stage 5 Food Technology students have been cooking their way through Australia’s culinary history, exploring how flavours evolve and cultures blend. Along the journey, they’ve created a delicious lineup of Asian-inspired dishes and inventive fusion meals featuring native bush ingredients — a true celebration of Australia’s diverse food story.

Well done to all students for expanding their skills, confidence, and knowledge in the kitchen throughout the year. Your hard work has definitely paid off!

Hospitality

Hospitality students have wrapped up the final creations in their Non-Alcoholic Beverages unit, shaking and blending their way to a menu of impressive cold drinks. From a decadent Biscoff milkshake to a refreshing Moo Goo, iced coffee, and more, they’ve shown real flair and confidence behind the counter.

It’s been a standout year for the whole class — developing new skills, catering for a range of events, and gaining a true understanding of what it takes to thrive in the hospitality industry.
