Learning, growing and celebrating together...
Dear Sacred Heart Kew Families,
2025, the year of ‘adaptability’ and ‘patience’, with our school operating out of temporary spaces, using every ‘nook and cranny’ available for the first three terms, as our School Hall Building and classrooms were refurbished. The resilience and flexibility of all our school community members should be acknowledged and celebrated. It is with great pride and joy that I write about one of the most significant years in the history of Sacred Heart School Kew.
Our teachers and staff continued to foster an environment where curiosity thrives and achievement flourishes. Through innovative instructional methods, continual professional growth, and a deep understanding of student needs, even with temporary spaces, all our staff members ensured students were supported, within inclusive and safe learning environments. I am incredibly proud and grateful to work alongside such dedicated and driven individuals, whose flexibility and humour, was greatly appreciated, throughout the year.
Our parents and families continued to partner with us to ensure that all children were supported and given every opportunity to achieve. We are most fortunate to have generous parents and families, whose willingness to give their time and talents, not only strengthens our school culture, but also enriches their experiences. From volunteering at school events or organising PA led events, being a class or year level representative or member of the Parents Association or School Advisory Council, our families continued to engage thoroughly and thoughtfully in their children’s education and school life, and we’re most grateful to them.
Our children have again proven themselves to be amazing individuals. Their talent, kindness and dedication to themselves and their studies knows no bounds. One of these talents froze the others out though, as all our children shone extra brightly, bringing the MAGIC alive of our Disney Frozen Jr School Musical. Each child brought something unique to the production, and together, created something truly fabulous. Thank you to all our incredibly talented children for all your hard work and energy throughout the entire experience. You should be so proud of all that you achieved together this year.
As mentioned above, 2025 was the year that saw our School Hall Building refurbishment take place. All 6 Classrooms were refurbished, with new ‘in between’ sliding doors and sliding entry doors installed. 2 new internal ramps (ground floor) and 1 new external accessible ramp (southern end) were built, replacing the disused external stairwell. A new level 1 external balcony and walkway was constructed, along with new internal stairs and a new internal lift at the northern end of this magnificent building. We even managed to get the external painting completed. It looks SENSATIONAL, and it only took 3 terms. This refurbished building now houses our Year Three - Six children and staff, who simply love it.
2025 has seen the continuation of the strong partnership which exists between school and parish. We were blessed with the arrival of Father Michael earlier this year and have enjoyed welcoming him into the school. We are most grateful to Father Michael for giving up his time to visit classrooms, getting to know all the children and staff throughout the course of the year, celebrating our whole school and Sacramental Masses, which were all beautiful occasions. A sincere thank you and well done to all children, staff and parents for their ongoing commitment and enthusiasm towards our school and community, ensuring that our school remains a positive environment to learn, grow and celebrate each and every day.
May the Christmas season inspire us all, as we are once again reminded of God’s love, through the gift of a small baby boy - the BEST present of all! Enjoy the celebrations and school holiday period. See you all again next year.
Kind Regards,
Ed Weekes
School Principal
