The St James Great Book Swap
Week commencing Monday 2nd September-St James Great Book Swap for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Students are asked to bring a 'pre-loved' book and for a gold coin donation they can select a book to take home. Books can be brought to school during the week beginning Monday 26th August ready for swapping the following week. Donated books can placed in the tubs available inside the Library.
Gold coin donations collected will support the work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Donations help provide books, books in First Languages, and learning resources to children and families living in remote Communities across Australia.

Mathematics - Reviewing and Retrieving
Do you ever forget things? The answer is of course yes. When we hear something new it takes time to really learn it and put it in our Long Term Memory.
In mathematics, our St James students continue to participate in Daily Reviews. This is a 5-15 minute session, normally at the start of a lesson, where students practise skills and
recall knowledge that they have previously mastered. It serves as an opportunity to build procedural and knowledge fluency.
Sometimes students use whiteboards, choral responses such as chanting or turn and talks where students share their thoughts and understandings with a partner.
Here is what some of our students think about the process.
