Out and About the School

The Fish That Wanted to Fly

On Wednesday, August 7, Kindergarten excitedly attended a performance at the Civic Theatre of The Fish That Wanted to Fly. The performance had the themes of resilience and friendship, and connects to science and sustainability through the exploration of the life and habits of Australian animals and their environments.

Chess

Last Thursday, August 8, our number 1 Chess team went over to Timbumburi for the semi-final of the NSW Primary Chess League. The boys played two matches against their opposite number. Sadly the boys went down 3 - 5, with Timbumburi advancing to the finals and then going down to Armidale Public.

The boys are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship and manners, they represented St Xavier's with pride. We would like to thank Mr Heap for accompanying them for the morning.

Year 6 Debate Team

This week the St Xavier's Debating Team went into battle against St Edward's Tamworth in a debate entitled "We should teach Current Affairs instead of History."

The adjudicator was Mrs Katie Daley from St Nicholas Tamworth.

St Xavier's was the negative Team and came out victorious! Congratulations to the Team and thank you to Miss Morrissey for coaching them.
