Orchestra Performs in Assembly
The Orchestra performed 2 pieces in assembly this Monday. They opened with “Pagodas by the Heavenly Lake” by Brisbane composer, Stephen Chin. This piece has lots of shimmering tremolo sounds and beautiful pentatonic melodies to musically describe the Heavenly Lake in China. The Orchestra’s second piece was a medley of songs from “Pirates of the Caribbean: at World’s End” by Hans Zimmer arranged by Robert Longfield. They gave a very exciting rendition of some rousing tunes! The pieces were introduced confidently and informatively by Diva (6R) and Ross (5L).
A small group of players also played to accompany the whole school singing of the National Anthem.
The Orchestra is preparing for their performance at the Night of Music on Saturday 7th September.
Many thanks to Diva (6R) for the wonderful artwork used for the Night of Music poster designed by Annelies Billeter.
