Our weights room has never looked so good!

Iron Edge, have released a new video that features our School's new weights room, with comments from Kinross Wolaroi's Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sam Bettle. The Weights Room was fully installed for the start of Term 3.

The collaboration between Kinross Wolaroi and Iron Edge to create our new Weights Room began with a detailed consultation to understand the unique needs of our school community. The result is a thoughtfully designed space that features CSTM Iron Cages, durable CSTM flooring, and precision-engineered Grilles. Every element has been carefully selected to provide a safe, effective and inspiring environment for our students.

We're exceptionally proud of the result. You can watch the video below.

Rugby at Home vs St Stanislaus'

From Matt Tink, MIC Rugby

Last Saturday was a huge day for KWS Rugby. Our local derby against St Stanislaus' College drew an enormous crowd and showcased the tremendous school pride we have.

Throughout the day the games were played in great spirit and it was excellent to see our students supporting all our teams throughout the day. The day culminated in our 1st XV running out the largest tunnel ever seen in living memory and this highlighted how our students have come together to be part of the Rugby culture. I would like to congratulate all our students on contributing to what will prove to be a very memorable day.

Our girls had a general bye last Saturday but are back on the bus to Sydney this week. With 2 x rounds to go all our teams are well placed to give the Finals a real crack. At this stage we expect to be competing in some Grand Finals so please save the date; Saturday 14 September. We are very keen to get as many supporters to Sydney as we can.

Finally, our annual Boarders vs Day Bugs fixtures will be played this Saturday morning at the main oval with the day culminating in the Weymouth v Wolaroi show down. This will be the last official fixture for our boys this year so let’s finish the boys season with a bang and then focus on shifting our support and energy to our girls' teams.

Hockey Season Wrap-Up: Celebrating Success and Looking Forward

As the final round of hockey games concludes this week, it's the perfect moment to reflect on a remarkable season. With eleven teams participating in the local competition, the growth and development of our players have been excellent.

This season has truly highlighted the dedication and effort of our coaches, who have been instrumental in nurturing talent and inspiring our players to reach their full potential. Their commitment to developing skills and fostering a positive team spirit has been evident across all levels.

Heading into the finals, we are proud to announce that three of our teams are looking to have secured spots in the semi-finals. The U14 Blue team is sitting in 4th place, the U16 Royal team finished strong in 2nd place, and our 1st team is leading the pack, sitting comfortably in 1st place. These impressive standings are a testament to the hard work and determination of our players and coaching staff. The draws for the finals will be published on the Hub once they are confirmed, so keep an eye out for updates.

In addition to our team achievements, we are thrilled to share some exciting news for one of our coaches. Darryn Marjoram, a valued member of our coaching team and current coach of the U16 Sky team, has been selected for the Australian Men’s Masters Squad for the 2025 Trans Tasman Challenge. This is a fantastic accolade for Darryn, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to him for this well-deserved recognition.

As we wrap up this fantastic season, we want to celebrate the achievements of all our teams and players. Please join us for the Hockey Presentation on Sunday 22 September at the Dorothy Knox Hall, PLC. It will be a great opportunity to honour the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. For more details and tickets, please check the Hub.

Congratulations to all our teams for a stellar season and best of luck to those advancing to the finals. Let’s celebrate our successes and look forward to an exciting conclusion to this hockey season.

Rowing Report

We had some great success from former Kinross Wolaroi rowers at the World Championships.  The school had three alumni represent Australia at the under 23 World Rowing Championships in St Catharine’s, Canada last week.

Bella Scammell (2021), Alec Hoskin (2022) and Lucy Searle (2023) raced superbly all making A-Finals. Bella Scammell won a bronze medal in the Womens 4- whilst Alec and Lucy both came 4th in the Men’s Coxed 4 and Women’s 8, respectively. This is an enormous achievement for three recent alumni who all began their rowing careers at Spring Creek with Kinross Wolaroi. Kinross Wolaroi was the most represented school within the Australian Under 23 team which is a credit to our program.
