Last Friday, the Junior School celebrated Book Week in style. The impressive coordination of Mrs Pengilly and Mr Ryan ensured we had a seamless, ‘magical’ parade that highlighted the Children’s Book Week theme of 'Reading is Magic'.
At Kinross Wolaroi Junior School, sports are an integral part of our educational philosophy. We offer a diverse range of sports and activities tailored to every level of engagement, ensuring that each child finds their place. Physical activity is essential for developing the skills, values, and attitudes needed for a healthy lifestyle.
We encourage students at the Junior School to stay physically active and refine both fine and gross motor skills, making games and outdoor activities a fun and enduring part of their lives. Team sports, healthy competition, and skill development are vital for fostering well-rounded individuals. Our focus on developing a student's sense of fair play permeates our school community, with every student participating in compulsory sports from Year 3 onwards. Our goal is to instil a lasting love for movement that will support their health and friendships throughout their lives.
Beyond physical benefits, school sports provide significant emotional and social advantages. According to a 2023 report by the Australian Sports Commission, children involved in sports show improved emotional resilience, better concentration, and more positive attitudes. These benefits extend to their academic performance, enhancing focus and overall well-being.
Socially, sports foster a strong sense of belonging. Being part of a team helps students develop leadership and cooperation skills. Shared experiences, including both successes and challenges, teach respect and build lasting relationships with peers.
Engaging with parents and families on the sidelines of sports events adds a lively and supportive atmosphere to every game. These interactions create a vibrant community where shared enthusiasm and encouragement uplift both players and spectators. It’s a joyful experience, as conversations and cheers from the sidelines often turn into lasting memories and foster a strong sense of connection among all involved. Let’s continue to embrace the opportunities to come together, cheer loudly, and create meaningful experiences that enrich the fabric or our school community
