Mr Matthew Campbell, Junior School Sport Co-ordinator
I am delighted to share some exciting updates and achievements from our sporting community over the past few weeks. Our Athletics representatives recently participated in the HICES Athletics Carnival, and I must say, their performance was outstanding.
Our students competed with great pride and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. Whether running, throwing, or jumping, each student gave their best effort, showcasing their hard work and dedication to training. We are thrilled to announce that a number of our talented athletes have qualified to compete at the upcoming CIS Carnival. This is a significant achievement, and we wish them all the best as they prepare to represent our school at this higher level of competition.
Turning our attention to tennis, our Stage 2 Todd Woodbridge Cup tennis teams are gearing up for their big competition in Cowra in Week 8. This event provides a fantastic opportunity for our young tennis players to test their skills against other schools in a friendly and competitive environment. Good luck to all our tennis players – we are sure you will represent KWS with pride and enthusiasm.
Our Soccer, Netball, and Hockey teams are also nearing the end of their respective seasons, and I want to commend all our players for their continued commitment and improvement. Each week, it’s been wonderful to witness the development of skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Our soccer players have been demonstrating excellent ball control and strategy on the field, while our netball teams have shown impressive passing accuracy and defensive play. Similarly, our hockey teams have been working hard on their coordination and stick handling, making great strides in each game. As these competitions draw to a close, I encourage all players to continue putting in their best effort and enjoying the remaining games. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.
Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to all our coaches for their time, expertise, and encouragement, as well as to our families for their ongoing support. It is through the combined efforts of our entire school community that we are able to provide these valuable sporting opportunities for our students.
Thank you, and keep up the fantastic work!

On Thursday, 22 August 2024, 41 students attended Sydney Olympic Athletics Centre to compete at the HICES carnival. Over the past term, the team have trained before school two days a week under the guidance of Sam Bettle (Head of Strength and Conditioning), Ms Caro and Mr Campbell. With an amazing display of sportsmanship and dedication, our team achieved some incredible results. Many students gained placings across a range of field and track events, with many other students just missing out on placings to qualify them for the HICES team to compete again on 6 September 2024.
We congratulate all students and we wish the following students luck as they compete next Friday back at Homebush.
