There have been lots of things happening across all the grades in the Mandarin room, with everyone being busy working on various topics and activities. Here is what they have been busy doing.
Foundation students have learned colour names and related expressions, such as 'I like red' and 'I don’t like black,' in sentence form. They enjoy the topic of colours and playing games like 'Simon Says' to find colours. This week, all Foundation students made Super Dad Certificates to give their dads. Well done, Foundation students!
Grade 1/2 students have been learning about body parts and have enjoyed using a variety of audio-visual materials. Next week, they will learn the Chinese version of ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes’ using the Chinese body parts they've studied. They also made Number One Dad Badges to present to their dads on Sunday. Hope you like them!
Grade 3/4 students were excited before going to camp, so last week, they were given time to play jackstones, allowing them to channel their pre-camp excitement into a new activity.
Although it was the first time for the Grade 2 students last year to try jackstones, they all had a great time learning and practicing. Many students said that when Mr. Kho did it, it looked very easy, but when they tried it themselves, it was quite difficult.
Asian jackstones have five levels, with Level 1 being the easiest and Level 5 the hardest. This week, the Grade 3/4 students also made Father's Day cards.
To celebrate the Summer Olympic Games held in Term 3, Grade 5/6 students have been focusing on the sports topic and have learned the names of major ball games along with related expressions. It seems they have all enjoyed this topic and will start learning about non-ball games next week.
Many excellent worksheets listing popular ball games have been completed, and two short Chinese readings will be done in the next two weeks. Father's Day cards were also made this week, and the students were excited about making Chinese Father's Day cards.
To celebrate Father's Day this Sunday, all Foundation to Grade 6 students have produced special Father's Day cards this week to present to their fathers on Sunday morning. They look great, and we believe all the dads will love them. Happy Father's Day!
