Week 7 Term 3
What's been happening in 3/4B lately?
We've had so much fun using play money to learn about Financial Maths. We've had opportunities to practice counting collections of money and learn about effective strategies that help us to count money efficiently. We've learnt to represent money values in multiple ways and count the change required for simple transactions to the nearest five cents and solved problems involving purchases. The students especially loved our Let's Go Shopping activity where they needed to visit the banker to withdraw money and go and make purchases at our shops (which can be seen below).
On Wednesday 18th September, we are going to have a visit from Vision Australia. The team from Vision Australia are going to come and run an incursion with both 3/4 classes and talk about their role in providing assistance to those people who have a vision impairment. As part of the presentation the students will be able to take part in some hands on activities including using Braille books. This is all part of our Inquiry unit for term 3 called 'In Someone Else's Shoes'. It promises to be a fun and rewarding experience for our students.
Just a reminder that during week 9 of term 3 we will be celebrating Book Week. The theme this year is Learning is Magic. The students will have the opportunity to visit our Book Fair, create a potential wish list of books and make some purchases. They will also participate in Multi-Age Book Week activities and dress up for our annual Book Week parade. It promises to be a great week with lots of fun and learning. Please keep an eye out in this newsletter and on Audiri for further information, dates and times of when things are happening across the week.
On Thursday 19th September the whole school is going to the Enchanted Maze for a fun day out! Please make sure you have logged in to Operoo and have given permission for your child to go! We'd hate for anyone to miss out on all the fun!
Kind regards, Brendan.
