Year 2 Spotlight

On Monday 26th August, the Year 2’s went on an excursion to Rippon Lea Estate linking with their current inquiry unit, Where We Are In Place and Time - Changing Times.

The students had a great day learning about how life was in the past.  They engaged in servant’s duties such as washing clothes using an agitator and a mangle and realised that it took a lot of elbow grease to get the clothes clean.  The students played old fashioned day games such as ‘Oranges and Lemons’, 'Hot Potato’ as well as Croquet.  We also went on a tour of the Rippon Lea mansion learning about how the wealthy Sargood family lived. To top off all the fun, the ‘Creature Catcher’ activity encouraged the students to explore the Rippon Lea gardens looking for clues to solve a word puzzle. What a great day we all had!
