Physical Education

Term 3 - Week 4

The girls have done it again!!! Our Year 5/6 girls soccer team have won their Regional soccer competition and now they are going to compete at the State level! The girls played Bright P-12 and were the dominant team from the outset. As soccer often goes, they found it hard to find the back of the net, until Charlotte Divers booted it through towards the end of the second half. They were glad to avoid a repeat of last years shoot out.

We'd like to thank Macey Watson and Issy Smyth, from Euroa Secondary College, for running the warm up and coaching the girls. And Mr McKernan for travelling and supporting the team. We don't have the details of the State competition yet, but we will be sure to let you know as soon as we do. Well done girls!!

Cross Country - We would also like to congratulate Logan Schwartzkopff for competing at the State Cross Country in Yarraglen. Logan competed in the multiclass event at District, Division, Region and then State and should be very proud of his efforts. Well done Logan!!

Physical Education - We have been learning about how exercise improves our health in PE. The Year 3-6 students have completed an exercise diary for a week, noting down screen time and exercise. They then compared and reflected on their daily amounts. The experts say that 1 hour of exercise is important for good health and more than an hour is excellent! They also recommend less than two hours screen time - which doesn't include the amount they use at school. There were some students who really worked hard to increase their exercise during this time, which is a great positive for their future health and welbeing.

We now work towards practising for our Athletics Carnival on the 4th of September.

The VET students from Euroa Secondary College will be assisting, but we will also be calling for parents who can help out on the day. All students will compete in events such as long jump, triple jump, discus, vortex, shot put, hurdles, 50 m and 100m. The Year 3-6 students will also compete in high jump and long distance running.

Last week we started with high jump, much to the excitement of our students.

Have a great week!
