Year 3/4 exchange program

Currently, Japanese schools are having their summer holidays and our exchange program will be back in September.

Year 1/2

Students are learning about “Things around the classroom” such as pencil, eraser, glue, scissors, ruler and pencil case. They looked at some Japanese stationary such as unique pencils, erasers and pencil cases. After we learnt the names of the items, we practiced identifying them in conversation. We usually learn about Japanese items, practice saying the words, write them out in Japanese and then draw some pictures to reinforce the meaning. They always have an opportunity to pronounce a word individually.

Foundation

Students have been learning about some farm animals. They have learnt how to say sheep, cow and horse so far. And they made some sheep craft that they took home. Please ask your child/ren what they are. (hitsuji-sheep, ushi-cow and uma-horse)

Students continued to practice greetings, body parts, fruits, animals, likes and dislikes, colours and Hiragana (Japanese alphabet) sounds through a variety of songs in Japanese. They can now confidently introduce themselves and state their age in Japanese. We have also continue with our Origami (paper folding) and students are getting very good at folding them by themselves.
