Principal News
Dear Families,
We hope you enjoy our first Classroom Communication for the term. There is always a lot happening at school and this is a snapshot of each classroom and specialist area.
A big congratulations to our girl's soccer team who have progressed to the State finals. A great effort with a hard fought and determined battle for the win. They were very pleased with themselves and we are very proud of the way the girls represented our school.
We have an overflowing lost property basket in the foyer area. If your child has lost a jumper, jacket, lunchbox or drink bottle, please send them to have a look. Clearly named items are always much easier to return when we know who they belong to.
Our courts are nearly ready!! We are hoping that by this time next week we will be able to play on them. The children have been fabulous with the new routine around bus drop off and pick up and riding their bikes. Tomorrow we are having 3 tonnes of sand delivered to finish off the job.
Can I ask parents to be mindful of not parking across other people's driveways when dropping off or picking up children. It is illegal but more importantly very annoying when people are trying to access or leave their properties and they can't get out safely. Many thanks!
In our Classroom Communication this week we have some information for families about ROBLOX from our MHiPS Leader Denise Hall. ROBLOX is a virtual universe that lets you create, share experiences with friends, and be anything you can imagine. As you can imagine it contains some highly inappropriate material for children and for adults. Please refer to the separate page Denise Hall has created to further inform you of the dangers of your children 'playing' ROBLOX. I found watching the video easier than reading the whole article and very disturbing. Please don't watch it with your children.
Children will always be one step ahead of us in regard to technology. Education is key and knowing that the children know how to be safe and responsible users and feel confident talking to you if and when they feel uncomfortable, frightened or worried is vital. Knowing what your children are looking at online is also important.
Our Review started today, this is a Review that focuses on improvement. Thank you to the parents who have very kindly given up their time to talk with the Reviewers about our community this afternoon. The Reviewers will be at school until the end of the day Thursday where they will deliver Commendations, Affirmations and Recommendations to all staff members.
Some sad news for our community. Rachael Carrington a former parent, mother to Luke and Patrick and Casual Relief Teacher at St John's passed away on the weekend. Rachael was always a very kind and gentle presence in our school and has always been very supportive of St John's. Rachel assisted in creating with Melinda Watson and the 2021 Year 6 students their legacy piece for our school community. Please keep her family in your prayers during this sad time.
Enjoy the week and these beautiful, crisp, sunny winter days, but I think we are all ready for some warmer spring weather.
Until next week
Therese
