Year 3 and 4 News

Middle school have had a very busy term of learning so far!

Reading

In Reading this term, Year 3 and 4 students have delved into tier 2 and tier 3 vocabulary words. Student have been working towards identifying what type of word it is, generating student friendly definitions in their own words and putting these words into context to gain a deeper understanding of the text they are reading.

Students have been working towards these 2 main success criteria within their classrooms:

• I can contribute tier 2 vocabulary words to the word wall
• I can clarify the meaning of tier 2 words found in guided reading texts.

Mathematics

This term, Year 3 and 4 students have been working hard towards demonstrating their understandings of multiplicative thinking (multiplication and division). Students have demonstrated the ability to explain their reasoning, model their reasoning through hands on manupulatives (blocks, number line, 100s chart etc) and have explored a range of vocabulary that is relevant to multiplicative thinking. Students have been excited to practice a range of skills through small groups activities, with the hopes to become successful and move to their next learning challenge.

Writing

Writing this term has been around our inquiry topic: The choices we make and actions we take, impact Earth's natural processes.

Students have been given the opportunity to choose their own research topic that they would like to find out more information about. Students are in the middle of writing an information report about what is their problem of choice (eg. deforestation), how this has become a problem and the positive actions they can take to impact the Earth.

Concert

What an amazing job we all did last week at our school concert! Year 3 and 4 students looked great up on the stage singing and dancing along to their chosen decade songs.

Some Concert Recounts

On Friday night we had our CSPS school concert at the Frankston Art Center. All the students from Foundation all the way to year 6.

First everyone arrived at the Frankston Art Centre with their parents at 6:30pm.

Next everyone went in the Function room and got their snacks and devices. When the concert finally started at 7:00pm the audience started clapping loudly.

Then it was finally our turn all the parents were clapping heaps!

Last, the concert was finally over we picked up our stuff and our parents picked us up and we all went home.

 I had FUN!!

On Friday night it was the CSPS school concert. It was held in the Frankston Art Center. All students from Foundation to year 6 did a performance on stage.

First, we got there at 6.30pm with our family.

Next, we went to the backstage room and got to dance,eat, and play on an iPad if you had one, for an hour. 

Then,  we did our performance and after that we waited an hour again.

Last, we went home and got ready for bed.
